Are you ready to look with me at what Jesus Christ did for you?

THE REALITY
IS HOPELESS

We all have to agree with the statement: “No one is righteous, not even one.”

read what the Bible says:

As it is written: ‘There is no-one righteous, not even one;
there is no-one who understands; there is no-one who seeks God.
All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no-one who does good, not even one.’
Romans 3, verses 10-12

If you are honest, you will find yourself in this Bible text, even if you also do good all the time! You will agree that injustice cries out for justice. Injustice must not go unpunished.

GOD’S LOVE
BRINGS JUSTICE

When we think of justice, we expect the guilty person to be punished.

But God’s love is greater!
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (cf. Romans 5, verse 8)

Read what the Bible says about Jesus Christ:

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. … we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Romans 5, verses 6-11

Death is the just punishment for guilt and sin. Through the substitutionary death of the righteous Jesus Christ, the Son of God, justice is established. The death of Jesus Christ thus makes reconciliation with God possible for you as well.

DEATH IS DEFEATED

With the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ, your old life has died.
The wonderful thing is, this is not the end!

The Bible puts it this way:

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Romans 6, verse 4

Jesus lives!

The righteousness that God expects is fulfilled! That is why God raised Jesus from the dead.

The above promise of God from the Bible is the reason of our living hope.
Death has no more power!

GOD GIVES LIFE

We were all enslaved in sin, all of us! And sin results in our death.

The wonderful news is:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6, verse 23

This is the reason for our hope!

HOW DO I GET THIS ETERNAL LIFE?

So eternal life is a gift! I possess a gift only when I receive and accept it. What does this mean with regard to eternal life?

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3, verse 16

Question: How do I receive eternal life? What does the text say?

Through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Question: How do I accept this gift?

Speak out to God what you believe:

You can pray like this:

Jesus Christ, I have realized that I am not righteous and that I deserve death. It pains me that I have been guilty against people. I have also sinned against you, God, and have gone my own way.

(Confess your guilt and sin. Speak out what you have realized.)

I have not trusted God until now. I am separated from you!

I believe that you, Jesus, died for my guilt and sin and forgave me.

I believe that you rose from the dead and you give me eternal life and fellowship with God.

I accept the gift of forgiveness and eternal life.

From today I will listen to you and live with you. Amen.

What is the next step?

I recommend you to look for followers of Jesus in your region. They will help you on your first steps with Jesus. Read the Bible regularly and talk to Jesus / God, also and especially when you have become guilty again. Like every relationship, your trust in God grows with your honesty. God longs for fellowship with you!

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father – Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
