Israel \u00e9 uma prov\u00edncia romana h\u00e1 50 anos. O povo judeu \u00e9 autorizado a viver a sua f\u00e9, mas tem de pagar tributo a Roma. O rei nomeado por Roma, Herodes Arquelau, governa com viol\u00eancia e dureza.<\/p>\n

Maria cresce em Nazar\u00e9, uma pequena aldeia no norte de Israel. Sendo filha de um levita, um servo do templo, aprende de cor a Torah, a palavra de Deus. O seu pai ensina-a e explica-a aos seus filhos. Assim, mesmo sendo uma rapariga jovem, Maria est\u00e1 familiarizada com a palavra de Deus e conhece as promessas que Deus faz ao seu povo.<\/p>\n
