In order for our relationship with God to be healed, God became man in Jesus Christ. Jesus was faithful to God his Father. With Jesus Christ there was no sin, no separation.<\/p>\n

What does it mean to be righteous?<\/b><\/p>\r\n

For us today, the act of being righteous<\/b> is a 'virtue' in the way we treat each other.<\/p>\r\n

But the biblical understanding is oriented towards God's righteousness. In the Bible, God communicates his standard, his righteousness. Righteousness<\/b> is not a 'quality' or 'virtue', but describes the relationship between man and God<\/b>, which is measured by God's holiness or righteousness.<\/p>\r\n

As descendants of the first humans, our relationship with God is also dysfunctional. By nature, we do not live in dependence on God.<\/p>\r\n

Sinner<\/b><\/h3>\r\nSin is often used today when someone does something wrong.\r\n\r\nWhen the Bible speaks of sin, however, it is first and foremost an expression of what man is. He is and lives apart from God. That is why he is a sinner.\r\nMan lives as if God were not even there. He also becomes guilty towards other people through his words and actions.
